Is this a Prepaid plan or Monthly mobility plan?

  1. Prepaid accounts run on a pay in advance method, there are no seasonal suspensions as they are not required. If and/or when you would no longer need the services for a period of time, all you have to do is to remove any automatic top-up payment method from your account. The account will be automatically deactivated after 90 days of inactivity. To make sure you don't loose your phone number, you just need to top-up your account before the 90 days are up.
  2. Monthly plans can only be suspended from 1- 6 month maximum. To suspend your mobility service, you will need to contact Bell Mobility. There would be an administrative charge to suspend this service. You will not be able to make or receive calls (except 9-1-1 calls), or send or receive text messages. You will also not be able to use mobile services on linked devices, such as NumberShare wearable devices.

To suspend you monthly plan, you will need to contact Bell Mobility Customer service, billing & orders at: 1 866 310-BELL (2355) or dial #611 from any Bell mobile device or you can try their web Chat service > Account & billing

Temporary suspensions

How to temporarily suspend my Bell residential services

Note: A one-time suspension charge of $49 will be applied to your next bill. Monthly service charges will be prorated within 1–2 billing cycles. The amount depends on the dates when the suspension takes effect and when it ends. Monthly rental charges (for example if you rent-to-own a TV receiver) will continue to apply as per the terms of service.

I have temporarily suspended my home phone, internet and TV. I paid $49 to do that.   I now want to temporarily suspend my bell mobile, will I have to pay another $49 or is there another way so I don't pay for data?

Is this a Prepaid service? Prepaid customers cannot temporarily suspend their mobile service. Is this associated with SmartPay?

If you have no plans on using your mobile device while away, I would suggest a Temporary suspension. There is a a one time administration charge of $49. You can suspend this service for up to a maximum of 6 months.

If you wish to suspend your monthly Bell Mobility service, you will need to give them a call : 1 800 667-0123 or dial *611 from any Bell mobile device

Depending on your plan & mobility agreement, you could also look at changing your plan or cancelling it entirely. By doing this, there could be cancellation charges, etc.

I would still recommend temporarily suspending your mobility service.

Take care.

Hold my number and stop phone service

It is mostly a dead phone when I go back China for my long team vacation. I don't think it is even receiving message or and use any data. I want to keep my phone number waiting for me to finish my vacation and hold that number. Anyone could help me with it?

Hello @WelshTerrier
Can you please clarify what "suspension" means for Mobility? Does it mean I will not get charged at all for the months I am not using the service (not including the one tie $49 fee for suspension)?
I was told by customer service that I will still be charged my monthly plan, which brings up the next question of, why suspend at all?
Thank you

Which mobility plan do you subscribe to? Is this a Monthly plan or a Prepaid plan? Are you on a SmartPay 2 yr. rate plan? Have you reviewed your mobility agreement? Prepaid customers cannot temporarily suspend their mobile service.

Depending on your plan & your mobility agreement you may not be able to suspend your service.

We do not have access to your account or billing records on the the Bell community Forum.

A suspension of your services does not equate to a stoppage in billing. A one-time suspension charge of $49 will be applied to your next bill. Monthly service charges will be prorated within 1–2 billing cycles.

I can only suggest that you review your mobility agreement & contact Bell Mobility service for an explanation.

Please call Bell Mobility at: 1 800 667-0123 or  *611 from any Bell mobile device.

Thank you for contacting the Bell Community Forum.

Take care.

Hello. Thanks for your speedy reply. I have read all your answers in this forum so my question is about a monthly plan on a contract since I know that prepaid does not apply. My question was solely about the definition of suspension and the point of it. I cannot see many requiring a suspension if it means they have to still pay monthly. Every other phone company that I know of offers, a temporary pause typically for a minimal fee, such as $10 a month. This convenient for those who travel a lot or live in Canada part time. But I’m very disappointed to find out that Bell does not offer this service. If I had not recently negotiated a very low monthly plan on a contract, I would probably cancel and move back to Fido for their amazing flexibility. I hope Bell considers offering a pause service to their customers.

I want to temporarily suspend my bell mobility service because I am out of the country and is expected to be back in 2 months. How can I do that???

You can out your service on hold but you should do it twice. Once online through the bell app and once with a live agent. Reason being, the app is slow. When it has accepted a change it really hasn’t gone through so they will deny that you did it. If you speak to an agent get their name and record the time of your call. Getting charged is inevitable. Winning an argument is 0% unless you have a name and time of call.

If I suspend my service for awhile will I be charged anything for the months I suspend like a service fee or anything?

Hi @Woody64,

Welcome to the Bell Community.

A one-time suspension charge of $49+ tax would be applied. Please check out our helpful reply in the thread above for more information about what to expect when you temporarily suspend your service.

Hi!
I’m on a contract with bell - mobile phone+ mobile plan

in planning to travel for over 3 months and I’d like my mobile plan suspended. I called bell contact and they said I can’t do so because I’m on a contract but isn’t that just the mobile phone itself (that I’m willing to pay for) I just want the plan suspended for 3 months
