Are you suspending a residential service such as Internet/TV or your mobile service?

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

Which mobility plan do you subscribe to? Is this a Monthly plan or a Prepaid plan? Are you on a SmartPay 2 yr. rate plan? Have you reviewed your mobility agreement? Prepaid customers cannot temporarily suspend their mobile service.

If you have a SmartPay 2-yr contract, you are still responsible for the monthly SmartPay payments even if your Bell Mobility service is suspended.

Depending on your plan & your mobility agreement you may not be able to suspend your service.

A suspension of your services does not equate to a stoppage in billing. A one-time suspension charge of $49 will be applied to your next bill. Monthly service charges will be prorated within 1–2 billing cycles.

In order to suspend or cancel your service, you will need to contact Bell Mobility.

The following web link will be of assistance to you if you wish to suspend a service.

Hello!
I have moved to the UK for the next 3 years and I’m looking to keep my phone number but get rid (or lower my payment) for my Canadian number. Anyone have any suggestions of what to do? I’d really like to come home in 3 years and get to use my same Canadian phone number!

I wish I could give you some sort of a solution, but unfortunately, there are not a lot of options available for you.

Seasonal suspensions are only good for 6 month. Three years is a long time. The only thing you can do is set up an account with minimum to no services. In order to retain your number, it must remain in service. You could setup a seasonal suspension each year for 6 months maximum each time. There would be an administrative charge, $49.

If you do choose to completely disconnect your services, including TV, Internet, Home phone & Mobility, you would loose your Bell email address if you have one. Bell is no longer providing email addresses on a going forward basis. The only way to maintain this to keep your mobility or internet active on suspension or connected.

If I suspend my service for awhile will I be charged anything for the months I suspend like a service fee or anything?

Hi @Woody64,

Welcome to the Bell Community.

A one-time suspension charge of $49+ tax would be applied. Please check out our helpful reply in the thread above for more information about what to expect when you temporarily suspend your service.

Let the community know if you have any other questions.

I am moving and have suspended my bell internet for the day I move. The only thing is I want to keep the modem for when I will be in my new apartment. I am subletting until the summer and need to put my modem in storage, is that possible?

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.
This is a some what unusual request, as you will be moving. I do not see a problem with this just as long as the  equipment & curent address remain in your name until moving day. You are still responsible for the equipment while your account is suspended until it is disconnected, returned and or transferred to your new apartment.

You should make sure that the subletting party understands this as well.

Take care.

Hi there @mathtyuiopThank you for your post and welcome to the Community.

Are you moving immediately or moving out of the home and staying elsewhere for a bit then going to your new apartment? If you are moving immediately into the apartment from your current home you should place a move order. If you are staying elsewhere for a bit before moving into your new apartment, you may need to have the service cancelled and send back the modem and when you set up service again, a new modem will be provided. Should the new owners moving into where you're currently at choose to have Bell service, it will cause a conflict with your existing service still there.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Community

Can I suspend my cell phone service/account during the time I am out of the country?

You will not be able to make or receive calls (except 9-1-1 calls), or send or receive text messages. You will also not be able to use mobile services on linked devices, such as NumberShare wearable devices.

A one-time suspension charge of $49 will be applied to your next bill. Monthly service charges will be prorated within 1–2 billing cycles. The amount depends on the dates when the suspension takes effect and when it ends. Monthly rental charges (for example if you rent-to-own a TV receiver) will continue to apply as per the terms of service.

Take care.

Honestly, Bell is the worst for travellers because there is no option to pause a service while you are away. You can choose to suspend it but that does nothing in terms of billing. You will still need to pay your monthly bill as per usual. So I would just recommend not suspending it and simply taking out your sim from your phone (or turning it off in your cellular phone settings) and using a local sim or e-sim wherever you are travelling. You should be able to make payments from any country. If the browser does not allow you, then use a VPN and choose your home city.
