I have been paying by credit card for some time

is this a valid Bell email?

Got an email apparently from Bell support saying I need to update my account. It looks suspicious because it has no typical Bell banner and I don’t see any spelling mistakes, so is this legit? I tried the Bell chat, totally useless!

If you have a way to check what email address it came from (without actually contacting them) you'll probably see it's a gmail address.  Absolutely a scam.  Same as the phone call we had from "Bell" saying they were "in the area" and wanted to know which kind of router we had so they could give us the free upgrade.  Look, Bell would already know what router we have!

I received this email FROM BELL. Is this a scam or a valid email? This is a final notification that on 17 July, Bell Mail will discontinue support for the old version (IE) 8. If you choose not to update your browser before 20 July, you'll be switched to our Basic Mail experience. You'll still be able to read and send emails, but you will no longer have access to many of the latest features for improved conversations, contacts and attachments.

Take a minute to update your browser for a faster, safer and full-featured Bell Mail experience.

I can not speak for all of the email messages you receive. In todays world there is so much fraud, phishing, number spoofing, etc. The crooks are trying to scam everyone with all of the tools at their disposal.

Reputable companies do not send emails to customers such as the one you mention.

Bell would never send you an email asking for personal information or advising you that you must do this or this or this! Do not reply to this email! Do not click on any links in this message! This is junk, fraud, phishing & just another example of fraudsters trying to get at your personal information!

Could someone from Bell call you & leave a message? Yes. Can fraudsters do the same yes? Bell will leave a callback number. Fraudsters for the most part will not!
There is no harm in clearing voicemails & returning legitimate calls. The issue is distinguishing one from the other. If unsure, delete the message, call, text, email. Treat as junk. Blocking the sender or number may or may not work.

Keep your personal information to yourself! Do not just hand this out to anyone who calls, emails you, sends a text. Do not open web links that are masked & sent to you in texts & emails!

Caution is the better part of valour! Rather to be safe than sorry!

Also received this one. I think I will not use bell for email anymore

Have rec'd this a couple of times - looks suspicious - yes?  In the title line - the Ls at the end of Bell look like capital i letters actually.  Anybody else getting these?

For the past month or so I've been receiving between 3 and 5 such emails a DAY, very annoying!  The email addresses aren't obvious scams (like gmail), but these days I don't even check; if it says it's from Bell and it's asking me to do anything unexpected, I just mark as Junk (I'm assuming that info then goes to Bell).

One of the advantages of a sympatico address used to be; very little junk/scam emails.  Guess those days are over!  I don't know if Bell itself can do anything about this, I hope so!

BTW, the other thing I do if I'm the slightest bit in doubt is to check my MyBell account; I'm assuming there's be some kind of notification there if I actually did need to do something.

Bell will never ask for any personal information via email such as passwords, PIN numbers, banking or credit card information.

I recommend that you click "Mark as spam" from webmail (when you log in from http://www.bell.net) this will ensure the team managing Bell email service will be aware of this specific spam campaign, can investigate and block it. You can also send a copy of that email to abuse@bell.ca

The most important part of fraud prevention is education and awareness. Knowing about the different types of fraud, how to identify fraud attempts and what they look like, along with what to do next if you suspect fraud are key to increasing your protection.

Here are some links that will assist you in preparing to combat fraud:

I am not receiving McAfee spam emails but mine are from: "Bell IT Services" or Bell Webmail Support, Bell Admin, Powered By Bell, Bell, Bell Update, Customer Feedback all from various @icloud.com user names. This started in April and I forward them all to phish@bell.ca. Weeks ago I called Bell to report the problem thinking, as most of them contained the name "Bell", they should be able to block those. I use Microsoft Outlook desktop client so when nothing was helping I logged onto Bell webmail and set up a couple of filters and then today I had to set up a third because of the @rogers.com address I received today.

What more can I do?

I've been getting emails addressed from MyBell saying "IMPORTANT UPDATE!.  That my email account failed to synchronize and returned incoming documents due to an outdated version of BELL.  All old versions of our mailboxes will be closed.  Your email needs to be ugraded before you lose the access.  Click here."

Is this legit?  So far, I've ignored it.

Thanks for any info.

Scam! Bell would never send you a message asking you to open a pdf or a link to verify your Email account. Beware of phishing & malware. Report as junk & delete.

Never open a link or an attachment in an Email. Do not reply forward, etc. to this message.
