Spam, never click on any links provided in an e-mail is my advice.

The only changes that are new will start on April 30th, and are related to minimum web browser support.

Just to expand a little on the whole spam situation, yesterday I twice got phone calls purporting to be from Bell.  They intimated that my TV and internet plans had been suspended - dial 1 for more information.  Since I don't even have Bell TV, this was a bit of a no-brainer.  Either way, I would not treat this as anything other than a scam (as distinct from spam).

On the subject of spam however, my Thunderbird e-mail client allows me to "view message source", so if I get a message that looks even marginally suspicious, I can follow the trail back far enough to determine whether it came from a legitimate sender.

Received scam mail asking to pay my bell bill by clicking a link.

The format of this scam is not consistent with my normal e-bill notifications from Bell.

Also, it came at the wrong time.

Contents of scam mail. Note: The link to view the bill has been disabled. The link was also inside a button which was stripped when moved to the Junk folder.

Wait until March 29, 2024. If your Webmail still works fine after that, it was a scam.

Almost any e-mail about expiring passwords and blocked accounts that contains a link in the e-mail, is a scam.

Received this email which I believe is a scam. Kindly confirm

Thank you for your question . That e-mail and any e-mail like it is a complete scam. The sender, a criminal, is trying to steal your account credentials. They are doing this by creating a false sense of urgency, hoping you will “click here” and enter your account information, password and even asking for banking and credit card  information. Just delete the e-mail and ignore it.

Hi All,

I wanted to share that I received a bill today via email that was odd.  I had already received my monthly email statement and this one was much higher.  So I clicked on the from and it was a gmail account.  The email looks exactly like my other email statements from Bell.

I have tried to reach out to Bell through their security tab but nothing comes up to direct me to someone/link/email address.

As anyone else received these emails.  Just tying to keep everyone aware.  Cheers!

Hey there @Scrunch,

Welcome to the Bell Community, and thank you for sharing 🙂

Great job checking out the email address that message was sent from, and noticing that it did not originate from Bell!

I keep getting emails from bell to pay my bill when I go into my account on the official site my Ballance is zero

Good Day & Welcome to the Bel Community Forum.

Most definitely sounds like a spam/phishing or fraud attempt.

If the web site shows a zero balance, & you wish to confirm this, then you can contact Bell Customer Service accounts & billing.

You can click "Mark as spam" from webmail (when you log in from www.bell.net) - this will ensure the team managing the Bell email service will be aware of this specific spam campaign, can investigate and block it. You can also send a copy of that email to abuse@bell.ca

Delete the email immediately after marking as spam or reporting abuse. Do not reply to the email or open up any web links in the email message.

If you think you’ve been a target of fraud, contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre

When in doubt, delete, delete, delete.

Never share any of your personal information with anyone you do not know or trust!

Below are screen shots of emails that I received over the weekend.  They look like they're from Bell, however when I log into my account there is no invoice for McAfee or any warnings about my email being suspended.  It seems suspicious that I would receive an email to renew antivirus software and then an email saying that my email has been hacked.

Don't click on any of the links in the second e-mail. They are all scam e-mails.

The give away is the second email which comes from an account where they forgot to add .ca to it.

As another rule of thumb, whenever you get an e-mail with a button to click on, don't. The button is often used to hide the URL of a malicious website, and almost always will take you to a forged site to gather your credit card and other information.

For a few months now I have been receiving emails disguised as monthly invoices for my Bell services.   My name appears but the 'amount due' is always quite a bit lower than what my monthly bill is.   I try blocking sender and domain on every email.  Since I always use my online banking to pay bills, I know this is a fake notice.   Does anyone else deal with this on a monthly basis and do you do anything different to deter the senders?   I also make sure never to answer these scams so they cant pick up any more private info   Finally, I always try to send a copy the the bellphishing address

Thanks for raising the issue. Yes, I get these kinds of e-mails many  times a week. I just block the sender and move the post to junk. I never, ever reply.
