Programming Satellite remote

I have a bell 9242 and two remotes that will not program to the receiver. The remotes are both from dual tuner receivers and they are “2” second tv remotes. 1- is a 6.3  IR/UHF Pro and 1- 6.4 IR/UHF Pro.

Have tried selecting A and B switch in the battery compartment.

of course already held sat….number…..# etc… about 10 times..

What is next step? Way of rebooting remote ? Or ??

thanks

Seems like no A or B button needed. You can find info on how to program the remote here: How to program my Bell Satellite TV remote controlOpens in a new tab or window

Hi @Marsh77

The 9242 is a dual tuner with the option to connect and view two separate TVs.  This means, the receiver can be controlled with two different remotes and will only work with the remote programmed for the tuner your receiver is set to.  Make sure your reciever is on the proper mode by pressing the "mode" button on the front of your receiver.  Toggle between the modes and see if the receiver responds to the remote.

Hello @BDG

Thanks for your reply.

You can try to reset the frequency by following the steps below:

  1. Press SYSTEM INFO on the front of the receiver.
  2. On your remote, press and hold options for a minimum of three seconds until the green tv light flashes twice.
  3. On your remote keypad, enter any number between 1 and 16. (Enter two digits, such as 01, 02, 03 and so on.) Press select. The green tv light should flash twice. This will reset the frequency the remote uses to communicate with the receiver.
  4. Press Select.
  5. Press Record (rec). The remote address field on the System Info screen will display the number you selected.
  6. Select Done. You will now be able to control the Bell Satellite TV receiver.

If you are still unable to pair the remote and receiver as @WelshTerrier suggested, it may be necessary to order a replacement remote.

Let us know how everything turns out.

I upgraded to a new 6500 receiver and it will not recognize my old remote. The old remote isn't recognized by the new receiver when I press Ok/Select as requested during initial startup so they don't pair and I can't go any further.

The old remote is very old and there are no instructions on the Bell site to help, they're all for newer remotes.

If I'd have know I would have bought the new remote but am hoping the old one can be paired. It did work with my model 4100 receiver.

Any help would be appreciated.

There are a few videos online if you google phrases like “Bell 4100 remote programming”. No sure if they are the same as your remote but you can try.

How do I pair my new universal remote with my 3100 receiver....the directions start with pushing the sys info on the front of

There is no sys info on the 3100 receiver

There is no system info button on the front of the Bell Satellite 3100 receiver. Please verify your receiver is the 3100 model. Which model of new remote did you purchase? Did you order it from Bell?

That really is my issue….i bought the universal remote from Bell for my 3100 which is supposed to be compatible but the only directions to pair the remote with the receiver starts with pushing the system info button which the 3100 doesn’t have🤦‍♀️

Please reference my earlier reply. You can try substituting one of the alternatives I put together for you. I can not promise you this will work. It is a back door method for you to gain access to the system on a discontinued receiver & remote control. You should be able to change settings as shown to pair a remote.
If this does not work, then your issue is more likely related to the receiver & the remote.

The following is is what I suggested earlier to access the system. Did you do try this?

Please Note: Depending on your remote & receiver, you can access System Info by any one of the following:
  1. Press the System Info button on the front panel of your receiver, if available.
  2. Press the Menu button twice on your Bell remote.
  3. Press Power on your receiver and then press the up arrow button.
  4. TV remote, press SYS INFO to display the System Information screen, if available.

As an alternative, you can reach out to Bell & see if they will accept a return for the remote. They do have a return policy. If purchased online, you return the device via mail. The device is in “like new” condition with all original packaging, manuals and accessories included.
