VIP7802 always has Dolby Vision on.

I just had Bell Fibe 1Gb internet and Fibe Tv with the new 4K Cloud PVR installed.

I notice when you boot or reboot the Fibe box, the Dolby Vision icon will display on my LG OLED tv. If I check the video display info on my Denon receiver it indicates it is receiving a Dolby Vision signal from the Fibe Tv box. This is for every channel and causes the picture to look very contrasty due to Dolby Vision being on all the time.

I can't find a setting to turn of or control HDR settings. I have an Nividia Shield 2019 model and there are options on it to disable HDR settings. This doesn't happen when I use the Fibe TV app on the Shield.

Please advise as this will potentially over time damage an OLED tv with burn in.

Thanks.

Thank you.  I'll try that.  Where exactly do you find that setting, to change to HDMI 1.4?? In the TV settings or the Bell box settings?

Tv settings

It got rid of the Dolby vision setting with the bell 4k Android box

Hello,

Recently purchased Fibe TV Box plan with internet as a bundle.

I was with Virgin just before switching, and I was using the Virgin app straight from my smart. Not to mention, I was with Bell as well 2 years ago, and I had a similar plan, but at that time I was using the Bell Streamer.

I thought I was getting a good deal now with Bell, you know a “Fibe Tv Box” (although it is 10-15$ more than by just going with the Fibe app). Well let me tell you I made a big mistake. The quality of the image is soooo bad, so dark too. When I compare the Fibe Tv Box vs the app I downloaded on that same TV, the difference is huge. Why is it like that? I cant even watch any sports , because the colours are far from being vivid. I did contact tech support and they clearly couldnt help me as they were telling I just need to change my TV’s picture mode to another one. Well how are we supposed to do it if its locked to “dolby vision”.

I also have this problem with the new pvr. Any work around?

The solution I gave almost a year and a half ago works if you are running the PVR directly to one of your LG TV HDMI input.

When on the HDMI input of your Bell PVR:

General > Devices > HDMI Settings > HDMI Deep Color > Off

No, it's not a great solution if you run all your sources through a receiver. However, if that is your current setup, consider instead connecting all your video sources directly to your TV and then connect your TV to your receiver with eARC configured as passthrough. Sure, it's a problem if you need to connect more than 3 devices because one of your HDMI input is reserved for your receiver, but I expect this solution to work for a vast majority of users.

HDMI settings on the TV. Not the Bell receiver. Set it to 1.4

Yes I agree, I got my new VIP7802 receivers yesterday March 9/24 and I have two top of the line LG OLED TV

and these receivers( just down graded my pictures to a cheap TV).The Fibe 2502 old receivers have a way better picture than this junk and the more I read there is lots of people in the same boat. How can this happen with technology that we have today. What’s the use of buying a high end TV. I just purchased a new LGOLED G3 TV the only way I get a nice pic now is to go away from Fibe TV and Stream on other sites, now I have a great pic. Unbelievable that they have put this out for this long without any remedy. God it’s in there best interest to get this resolved. Man it’s not rocket science.

I received a new update 3.8.1008.1. Believe it or not, this problem still exists. In fact, for me, it’s even worse. I used to be able to disable deep colour on my LG C2 to turn off HDR on the 7802 and it would stay off when I reenabled deep colour. HDR now reenables when I turn deep colour back on.

I have exactly the same problem with my new TCL tv .. Dolby vision always ON and no solution to turn it off on Bell Fibe TV with the android box.. picture quality is really bad and look white with no color.. bell should update the firmware and make an option to disable HDR or DV..

I recently switched from rogers. We got the fiber 1.5gbs and the fibe tv box. It's the VIP7802.  I changed the resolution a billion times they all look the same. Watching CNN looks horrible. The 4k channels for hockey and sports .. The old rogers next box looked so much better. We have an LG tv so no fibe tv app. I don't know how to fix this. Any suggestions. I have rebooted it changed hdmi cables. Thanks.

I recently upgraded to 1.5 gig fiber internet and subscribed to Fibe TV, opting for the VIP7802 Arris Android box. However, I've been disappointed with the viewing experience. Despite having a 4K setup, the picture quality is subpar, reminiscent of outdated SD broadcasts. Even on reputable channels like CNN, the visuals are plagued by a jittery ticker, giving the impression of a dated broadcast from years ago.

I've tried troubleshooting by using Bell's official HDMI cable and connecting via ethernet, but the issues persist. Surprisingly, Rogers offers superior image quality in comparison. I own an LG OLED TV, which should theoretically enhance the viewing experience with Dolby technology. However, the image remains lackluster.

I attempted to rectify the situation by adjusting settings, such as switching to cinema or standard mode on other inputs and applying these changes universally. Despite these efforts, the problem persists. Disabling HDMI deep color also failed to yield improvements.

Considering alternatives, I've contemplated investing in an Apple TV stick and utilizing the app for a potentially superior viewing experience, as I've heard positive reviews. If anyone has insights or solutions to enhance my viewing quality, I would greatly appreciate the assistance. Other people have also had this problem.

It's still not great at all  hockey is almost unwatchable. We got the 4k apple tv box and it looks 1% better if anything. Why is this a problem. The 7802 box is the only system where in the guide the little images when u flock through channels are low quality. Is bell destined for this or is there a way to fix it. Thanks

I believe that the people who have posted messages here value image quality. But the majority of people probably don't even notice the problem or don't care. That's why I don't think Bell is really putting effort into fixing the issue. I even wonder if it might be the hardware design by the supplier that's the problem, and Bell is just trying to buy time to clear out stock and come up with a new model.

Personally, my soundbar seems to be filtering the feed, and my TV doesn't display in Dolby Vision. That being said, I've had difficulty with the setup. I've experienced a lot of sound dropouts and image corruption. It's the first time in my life that I've had so many problems. Truly a bad product.

I tried the device directly on the TV, and it's terrible.
