Hello, thank you for reaching out to us. 🙂
To change the number of rings please follow the steps below.
- Dial *94 and listen for 3 beeps.
- Enter the number of rings you want there to be before switching to Call Answer (minimum 2 rings, 1 ring is not an option).
- Listen for two confirmation beeps, like a busy signal.
- Hang up.

Change the number of rings before voicemail answers
You can adjust the number of rings before voicemail picks up at any time by dialing *94 and then pressing any number from 2-9. Pushing 2 sets it for two rings; pushing 9 would set it for nine rings.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.
@Sheila It appears that Bell has recently made a slight modification to the recorded instructions provided when accessing this feature to change the number of rings. I have updated the instructions below to reflect this minor change.
Call Answer - To change the number of rings please follow the steps below.
- Dial *94 and listen to the recorded announcement.
- Enter the number of rings you want there to be before switching to Call Answer (0 to 9).
- Wait for a 3-5 pause.
- Listen for the voice recorded confirmation & then a fast busy signal.
- Hang up.

I thought I had turned off the answering machine from my Panasonic phone, but apparently I had not. Once that was done I was able to adjust the number of rings for my phone. The process was different than what you have listed. My method was *94, 3 short beeps(no recording), enter number of rings wanted and there is 2 confirmation beeps(no recording), then hang up

Hi there @LoriAnne, welcome to the Bell Community 🙂
Interesting, can you share the message that you hear?
After setting up Call Answer (from home dial dial *98), you should then be able to change the number of rings before Call Answer picks up by dialing *94.
Let the Community know if you are still having any trouble.
