Given an IPhone 8. Data doesn't seem to work.

I was given an IPhone 8. How do I turn on data? It doesn't seem to work?

1. How do I change my device online?
2. How do I use data?  It says I don't have a data plan, but I pay extra for it!

Hey there @Ihone8help, 

Welcome to the Community and thanks for your post. 

When you acquire a new phone, you simply insert your SIM card and the switch is done automatically. Unless the new phone is on a blocked list or locked to a different provider. 

Are you able to make/receive calls and send/receive texts?
