Ok: 99.99% of companies don't reach out to people to give away free stuff or insane discounts put of the goodness of their heart, especially while asking for your personal information in return. Unless it's a Winback team but only if you left your previous carrier not long ago.

When in doubt, simply hang up and dial 310-BELL (2355), *611 from your Bell mobile phone or you can even come see us in store! 😁

got this phone call over the weekend.  Thought it was odd that Bell would ring on a Saturday.  They wanted my email, i told them Bell should already have all that information, he said he wasn't from accounts department but was from promotions department and just needed to verify my email to be able to get this deal.  Sounded like a scam to me so i said i wasn't interested.

Hello,

I guess they have started this again, got a called by this number +1 (416) XXX-XXXX as a real bell support number? They offered me a 40% discount on my bill, sent me a text and all.

When they asked for my Bell username, I then said to her - Emma - I don't think I should give you that, they near got me.

Hung up immediately and place a call to BELL

Got a call offering a promotion offering a big discount on my Bell service.

He had my current billed amount, email, home phone, cell phone info.

Wanted to enter a promo code but the Bell my services website didn't have that option so he directed me to some strange web site  to download support.client.exe and run it. Clearly a scam.

My concern is how did he get my Bell account info?

You are asking me to speculate & guess on how he was able to obtain all of your personal information. I am going to take a pass on answering that question. Unbeknown to you, this information was indirectly obtained & shared with this scammer. Have you or anyone in your household ever opened any web links or messages in emails or text messages?

As a starting point I would suggest that you:

  1. Do a virus scan on all of your devices. E.g. Computer, mobile device, tablet, etc. He may have gained access by way of a virus, malware, trojan horse, etc.
  2. Change your MyBell password.
  3. Change your email password.
  4. Clear all of your cache, cookies & history from your computer & any devices that have access to your accounts.
  5. Monitor all of your accounts for any strange activities & authorized transactions.
  6. Share this experience with family friends, & others.
  7. Never share any personal information with anyone you do not know or trust!

Caution is the better part of valour! It is always too late to lock the barn door after the horse has run off or been stolen!

You may be lucky & nothing may come about from this experience.

Next time, just hang up! There is no reason for you to talk to fraudsters. They want to talk to you.

Got a call from someone supposedly from Bell saying if I have problem with home line and I've been selected due to complaints to receive discount.  They asked for my bell account # and then asked me to check my email for verification.   Went online and did verification, but then asked to finalize by giving my credit card.  I said no because I already have direct  billing.  They insisted that if I don't give cc, discount wont apply.  I asked for name and speak to supervisor and he said he is head of dept.  I said you are the CEO?, he got aggressive and I hung up.  Beware of scammers!

HI,

I received  a call from 61-526-**** confirming they are calling from BELL to offer discount on my plans and will reduce it to half from what I am paying now. Asking for all details from postal code to name , address confidentail details.

Infact they asked for my Bell account number  and thats where it rang a bell.

Please beware of such fraudsters and let your customers know of such fraudulent calls.

Thank you

Yeh funny it not just bell, it all major carriers who are getting this . Makes me wonder how are they able to get our phone numbers and say which carrier is . I have not heard a data breach but I wonder . But it intresting to see how much people been saying I’m getting a call. They sound very bad at speaking English . So that is how I’m know it scam and asking details about my phone . I never told anything but was not interested . So it good people to report it here casue I check anything new in this category . So I love the stories I learn .
