I recently discontinued my service. Today I got my bill showing a substantial credit. How do I collect this credit? Is a cheque issued by Bell? If so, how long should I have to wait?

My mobile account was cancelled in May. I have a credit on my last bill. It has been 2 months but I have got nothing for the refund. A few calls were made but I got different answers each time. Today after waiting for 1.5 hrs over the phone I was told the refund will NOT be initiated due to the bank policy because the amount of the refund is less than $5. What the hell is that ? Is it fair to the customers ? Actually where it is mentioned regarding to the non-refund policy ? Why the refund could not be paid to my credit card automatically that I used to pay monthly bills ?

Thanks to @WelshTerrier
When I called in June, the customer representative checked everything and told me the refund cheque will be mailed to me around July 8. However this did not happen at all. I called again today and the customer representative took a long time by checking with many other teams then came back to me that the refund cheque can not be issued because the amount of the credit is only near $5 meaning I will never get the refund. I agree this is only a little money and I do not really care of the money itself. However I just feel that this is a very bad experience with BELL customer service. I do not even see any clarification from the refund policy regarding to the non-refund with a small amount.

Good Day & thank you @Canlish78 for your reply.
This is a community forum. As such, I do not have access to your account or billing details. I can only try to help in answering your questions & finding solutions to your problems. I wish there was something more I could do for you, but unfortunately, there is nothing more that I can offer up..
As I previously suggested, you can once again call Bell Customer Service and ask to speak to a manager.
Take care.

Good Day.
This is a community forum. As such, I do not have access to your account or billing details. I can only try to help in answering your questions & finding solutions to your problems.
Can you provide the Bell Community with some further information:
- Do you still have an active account with Bell?
- Did you cancel your Bell Mobility service? Is this a final bill credit balance refund?
- Do you have an outstanding account balance?
- Is your account up to date & not in arrears?
- Is the $179.00 refund associated with a security deposit that has not been returned?
- Is this an equipment return refund that was charged?
For credit balances on your final bill, Bell will send you a cheque to your mailing address on file within 90 days from the date of that final bill.

As of October 16th of last month, I cancelled my services with Bell and made sure that I returned the wifi pod that I purchased via shipping it through Purolator. I did so with the shipping label that Bell provided me in the mail, and also made sure to pay my bill for the month despite me being in the hospital for personal reasons, and not being able to use it. Now, it is currently November 16th, 2024, and I have noticed that an email was sent to me saying my E-Bill was ready, with a negative (-) symbol next to the balance owed, and saying to pay it by December 2nd, 2024... I'm confused, as I have seen online from others that this is a sign of a refund being issued, but I still just want to make sure that I don't have to pay anything I don't have to. I have followed every single procedure in regards to cancelling my services, returning the equipment and so on. May I please have some assistance with this issue ?

Good Day @noah_2134
If you see CR that means that there is an outstanding credit, and no payment would be due. You can verify this, by logging in to your MyBell web account.
For example, if your account is showing: -$144.00 is due, this is a “CR $144.00”. That is great news.
It can take 3-4 weeks to receive a refund under normal circumstances.
For mobile phones, or accessories, you’ll receive a refund 60 to 90 days after we have received and verify items you’ve returned.
Your final bill will arrive within 40 days after the cancellation of your services. Your final bill may include the following items:
- Final regular monthly charges
If your service is cancelled (by you or by Bell) in the middle of a billing period, you will receive a prorated refund for monthly fees billed at the beginning of the billing period that apply to the period after the cancellation of your services. - Early cancellation fees (if applicable)
If you are cancelling your Bell services and you are still within the contract period, you may be subject to early cancellation fees. The amount depends on the service, and will be added to your final bill. - Credit balance (if applicable)
For balances between $10 and $500 on your final bill, we will mail a cheque to your preferred mailing address within 90 days of the date of that bill. For balances of a different amount, please contact us to request that a cheque be mailed.
Take care.

I have already discontinued my Bell Internet service back in Sept '24 and now is already Nov. Today I got an email showing a credit in my cancelled account. Am I supposed to receive a cheque by mail within few weeks instead of months? How do I collect this credit? Please provide me a contact person to talk with and follow up on this.
