VIP5662 does not retain 4K resolution settings

All channels on my new Samsung TV look way better when Bell's 4k PVR resolution is set to 4K, every time you turn the TV off and back on the PVR resolution drops to 1080 which forces me to manually adjust back to 4K (select Menu , Settings, Resolution and select 4K) , this is quite annoying as it has to be done every time you turn the TV on, I called Bell, they sent a technician who swapped the PVR but the problems continues , called Bell again to be told that the boxes are programmed to default to 1080 resolution , is there an solution and/or logical explanation for this, the boxes should retain the resolution they are set at , this is not right ?

Man this one is special. SD, but not just any old SD - shrunk and stuffed in the corner SD.

A few clicks in the menu and back to 4K. Come on Bell.

Mine has been good for three days. Nothing is more difficult to resolve, than an intermittent problem. As soon as it changes the resolution again, I will replace the HDMI cable with a high quality one

Having the same problem here new tv Samsung – 65 Inch QN85B Neo QLED 4K UHD HDR.  Resets to SD every time I power up the tv. Tried new high end HDMI cables, cable provided by Bell, and a few other generic brand cables. None resolved the issue. Spoke with Bell support and was told that they are aware of this problem and are trying to fix it. I asked if the new cloud series have this problem and was told they don’t. So I ordered the new model, had to replace both receivers, they need to match. I end up paying $13 more per month to fix a problem that they can’t fix. Hopefully the new boxes fix the problem.

Since I mentioned that I am going to try a high quality HDMI cable, I have not had a problem. Did Bell find a fix?

I don't think they found a fix I'm still having that problem...

No they have not yet found a solution to their issue! I have purchased a high end HDMI cable with no changes at all. Daily I need to go to settings and adjust from either SD or High Definition. The settings will not maintain from one day to the other. Maybe Bell needs to explain to the paying public why they are unable to apply a fix?

Here is what I have done. In the settings, I turn off Intelligent mode. I thought that maybe, the TV was sending an unknown command to the STB. Still had the issue. Turned Intelligent mode back on, and I have not had the issue since,

I recently changed my TV to a Samsung Q80B and the 4K PVR model VIP5662W keeps changing to a lower resolution when I am turning it on. Even if it says it is in the proper resolution, I have to change it again because the resolution does not corresponds, and when doing that, the quality improves. I have never had this issue before and I have called 4-5 times to Bell related to this. They sent me a new PVR & new HDMI cable, the same issue, I checked with my other receiver VIP2502 and no issues at all. Finally I have used other streaming devices and there is not a problem. The issue is with the receiver VIP5662W.

One time when I called they told me they are having issues with the receiver and that it has been reported but no solution until now. I have read here and there are multiple users who have upgraded their Samsung TV and having the same issues. What follows in this case? Getting tired of this situation.

So far, my STB, has been good, with two exceptions. After a power outage the other week, the STB defaulted to 1080p. That’s not so bad. Their morning, it appeared that the STB had done a reset or something, because the guide had returned to channel 100, and the resolution had defaulted to SD 480.

My situation is pretty much the same as yours. Funny thing is I’ve had my TV for about 6 weeks and the resolution problem showed up maybe 2 weeks ago and is random. I haven’t proved it 100% but in my case if the set has been off for several hours and is in “sleep mode” if I press the select button on the PVR remote and then turn the TV on resolution is set to 1080p. I replaced a 10 year old HDMI cable with a new one and no difference.

@Fubared @If you look a my previous post, try turning intelligent mode off for a couple of days, then turn it back on. Could be a coincidence, but that’s when mine started working somewhat normally

Believe me I’ve tried every suggestion put forward in this thread but nothing works consistently. As I mentioned in my post this problem didn’t appear until  after a few weeks. Now it’s at least once a day after the TV has been turned off and on and several hours have elapsed. Then it reverts to 480p. For me it’s a major annoyance but several people use this pvr/tv who aren’t savvy on changing the settings so it becomes infuriating.

I hear ya. If it was consistent, it may be a little easier to resolve. The tv must be sending some command to the box, to change the resolution. Perhaps when something in the tv times out, while in the power down mode. I’m hoping that Bell is actively investigating, rather than just reading about our issue. There must be an upgrade which would block the command, or whatever it is.

I have the same issue... 90% of the time it resets to 1080p on startup.  i have giga router and Samsung q80b Tv that supports 4k with 120 refresh rate.

I amusing Bell provided hdmi cables.  I have fibre to router and ethernet to the receiver.  I have a giga router.  My best guess is that the 120 refresh rate of the Samsung Tvs does not get recognized by the tv box... So it reverts to 1080p most times... Not always though.  An annoyance to have to set the resolution every time I turn the box on.
