VIP7802 always has Dolby Vision on.

I just had Bell Fibe 1Gb internet and Fibe Tv with the new 4K Cloud PVR installed.

I notice when you boot or reboot the Fibe box, the Dolby Vision icon will display on my LG OLED tv. If I check the video display info on my Denon receiver it indicates it is receiving a Dolby Vision signal from the Fibe Tv box. This is for every channel and causes the picture to look very contrasty due to Dolby Vision being on all the time.

I can't find a setting to turn of or control HDR settings. I have an Nividia Shield 2019 model and there are options on it to disable HDR settings. This doesn't happen when I use the Fibe TV app on the Shield.

Please advise as this will potentially over time damage an OLED tv with burn in.

Thanks.

Hello,

I'm having the same issues.  Any update on whether you can turn off the Dolby Vision option on the Fibe TV box?  When I turn off the HDMI Deep Colour option from my TV directly, and I watch sports, it's awesome! However, Netflix doesn't work, so I have to turn it back on.  Super annoying.  So, the only solution is for Bell to update the Fibe TV box to make Dolby Vision optional.

Just to update everyone on this issue. I usually use the app due to this issue but happened try the box to see if the Leafs game was on 4K. Noticed the flag for Dolby vision no longer came on. Double checked and confirmed that Dolby Vision no longer turns on with the box for all programing. I did notice an firmware update notice last week or so, but after the update, Dolby Vision was still active. Not sure if another update happened since as I rarely watch via the box, but my box is now showing firmware client version 3.5.593.1. Hopefully this issue is gone for good.

Now if they can fix the audio drop outs and improve the video quality.

Thank you for the update.  Still testing it.  One test worked so far, I turned off HDMI Deep Colour on the TV and was able to use my picture settings the way I want it, and Netflix still worked which wasn't the case earlier in the week.  So, maybe the update you mentioned fixed some issues.  Too bad it took so long for Bell to acknowledge there was an actual issue with the box.  However, they must deal with all sorts of non-issues...Thank you again jmacd27!

False alarm, got home yesterday and Dolby Vision is now on all the time again. Not sure what happened, maybe the box rebooted or something but the issue is back.

Over 7 months now and this simple issue is not resolved yet. No even an official acknowledgement that this is a bug and is going to be fixed.

Found this thread after noticing the same problem on my system, Dolby Vision is on all the time and the picture is horrible. I tried a few things to correct the problem but none so far are as easy as having the thing work correctly out of the box. Turning off deep color works but when I switch to another source with HDR content, my LG TV switches it back on automatically (all HDMI sources going through a Marantz receiver). Connecting the box directly to the TV with optical going to the receiver is also cumbersome when switching sources.

After trying a few more things, using an old HDMI splitter 1x2 as a "conversion box" seems to do the trick and disable Dolby Vision permanently. Time will tell...

Patricia. This doesn't work. I had found a setting on my TV. But that doesn't seem to work anymore. This is a major issue. Please help your upset customers

Put your TV settings to HDMI 1.4. Then you can adjust your picture to your liking

This issue has been going on for over a year now, pathetic. Not even an acknowledgement that this is an issue, or even that Bell is working on a solution. This is all you need to know about what Bell thinks of their customers.

I'm having a similar issue, I have a TCL R646 that seems to always recongize my box as a Dolby Vision.  Thankfully the quality is better than some of the other users have put forward, but it's a bit annoying not to be able to adjust for certain uses like football or F1.

I have the same problem. Bell Fibe tv Box with LG G3 tv. I contacted Bell support and explained that the picture quality was horrific. They said the TV box was defective and sent me a replacement. After setting up the new box, the problems was still there. Reseted the tv and it was gone, picture quality was alright. But after a TV box restart the problem came back.
So to sum it up, Bell TV box is set up in Dolby, it’s impossible to change that, and when it set this way the color/contrast of the tv is all over the place, I guess because it tries to display SDR source in HDR on the TV.

You need to put the HDMI from auto to HDMI 1.4. This way the signal and picture mode can be adjusted with the TV

I have the same TV. Change HDMI mode from auto to HDMI 1.4. Voila! Problem solved
